So, it finally happened. I've been here 22 days and today's the day I woke up unbelievably sick. At 3am I awoke to the worst stomach pains of my entire life. I spent the next hour (sorry for the graphic detail) but literally peeing out of my butt hole. I couldn't even make it out of the bathroom long enough to reach the meds that were in my backpack by my bed. I finally was able to stop long enough, after multiple attempts to leave the bathroom to take my Cipro and loperamide but that didn't seem to do anything. From 4am onwards, I woke up at least twice every single hour to either puke or have diarrhea. When my alarm went off at 6:40 this morning there was absolutely zero improvements. My stomach was twisted in knots and I could barely even stand up. I couldn't make it to breakfast. I somehow managed to get back to sleep, knowing there's no way I could tolerate a bus ride and doing physical labor all day.
I just woke up, it's about noon and my stomach is starting to feel better. Now I feel severely dehydrated and I'm attempting to keep down water. But now I feel bad that I wasn't able to go this morning. The group probably won't return for another 4-5 hours and they are getting so much done. I feel awful. I probably had something similar to what people of the community have on a daily basis, and I couldn't even get out of bed. I guess there's not much I can do about it now but wish that I would have been strong enough to make it through this morning.
Here's to a better day tomorrow.
