We went out with a bang today...horse backing riding through the finca (ranch)! I was one of the few people who had actually ridden horses seriously before and I was thrown onto the biggest horse who was blind in one eye. Being up on a horse felt so good. I realized that I don't think I've ridden since my knee surgeries back in 2009. I've seriously been missing out because I forgot how much I loved it. After a bit of trail riding, we got into this open pasture and we were allowed to let the horses run. My horse actually took off, like it had just bolted through an imaginary gate. I was a little caught off guard, but wow was it an amazing feeling. I ended up losing my $2 "Roy Bans" but oh well, I couldn't wait to do it again. When we came up to a second pasture, the same thing happened, only this time I was ready for it. I reached the end in what feels like seconds and waited for the rest to catch up. We continued on the trail and found a nice shady spot to cool down. It was then that I learned that my horse was a rodeo horse and had only been ridden by caballeros in the past, this explained a lot.
We spent about 4 or so hours on horseback weaving through trails, pastures, cows and roads. We are currently on our way back to the Managua to catch our early flight tomorrow.
I am not ready to leave. That is all I have to say...I am not ready to think about saying goodbye to this country or this traveling life style. I'll worry about that tomorrow. Well until then, get ready for my sappy post about leaving Nica.
