So it’s been a hot minute since I’ve posted, so I figured why not hit you all up with some details and remind you all that I’m still existing. Reminder: it’s winter down here, so I’m just coming back from my winter break, which was LEGEN-(wait for it)-DARY! I spent my two weeks off from school catching up with some volunteers, visiting peoples sites and then went on a solo trip to Argentina. This was my first time traveling alone (okay, so I joined the Peace Corps and moved to Paraguay by myself, but I don’t really count that as being alone since there were 48 other people who were with me) and I’m putting it out there now, will not be my last time. I had such an incredible time, I met so many people from all over, hitched rides, shared drinks, swapped stories and experienced so many amazing things that I will never forget.
I brought journals and books and music and movies to fill up all this alone time I was expecting to have, but in reality, I was never really alone, I was constantly surrounded by new people and doing new things in new places. I never opened a page or pressed play my entire trip, instead I took in my surroundings. I didn’t really have anything planned out, I just went with the flow and went wherever the day took me. Anyways, I’ll keep the self-discovery ramblings to a minimum on this post and avoid doing an entire play-by-play and just upload some pictures.
Now that I’m back, I feel refreshed and ready to get back to my work here. I am finishing up my nutrition course with the middle school and getting ready to start a course promoting gender equality. I am mostly excited about a new project I’m working on with the orphanage- building a bench out of recycled plastic! This project merits its own blog post once the construction actually gets started (fingers crossed!). Besides that, my P.E. classes, Mommy&Me classes, zumba classes and yoga classes are coming along as usual. After all the traveling, my pup and I are ready to settle back into my little purple house in the campo and readjust to the simple life- in bed by 9pm and up with the sun.
Regardless, just wanted to check in and say I’m back to just chillin out here. Very happy to be where I’m at, doing what I’m doing! And my instagrams will go back to the usual feed of cows, palm trees, clouds and sunsets!
